On June 10, 2019, California Governor Newsom issued an executive order (Executive Order N-14-19) that called for the creation of a Master Plan for Aging to serve as a blueprint for promoting healthy aging for all Californians and preparing the state for demographic changes. The plan calls for state and local government, the private sector, and philanthropic institutions to get involved. For more information about the Executive Order, visit The SCAN Foundation website.

For more on CEJC's Recommendations, see:
- Create a California Elder Justice Coordinating Council to provide ongoing guidance and leadership to local elder justice programs, coalitions, and MDTs. Specifically, the Council would:

- Provide ongoing opportunities for stakeholders to inform key state leaders about developments and needs.
- Provide guidance to local elder justice coalitions and MDTs
- Ensuring that all Californians have access to advance directives to protect their rights if they become incapacitated,
- Exploring less restrictive options for conservatorship.
- Creating a task force to re-examine the relationship between law enforcement and other entities that address elder abuse,
- Increased support for legal services for older adults
- Create a statewide network of elder abuse shelters
