CEJC gladly accepts cy pres awards to support our work to promote elder justice.
Once class action lawsuits are settled, sometimes not all of the money recovered can be distributed. Class members or their estates may be difficult to identify or contact, or it might be prohibitively expensive to distribute money to them. The cy pres doctrine authorizes distribution of the remaining funds to a nonprofit, charitable organization — like CEJC — that benefits class members.

CEJC accepts cy pres awards to fund our policy, training, and technical assistance work that aligns with the interests of class action members. Our approach is to improve protective and supportive services for all vulnerable and older adults in ways that preserve individual rights and equity.
